Which plane is above me?

Allow your location and the live map moves to where you are and lists the aircraft closest to you: flight, type, altitude, distance and the direction to look.

Your location is used only in your browser: it is not sent to our server and not stored. The map loads aircraft for the area on screen, as it does for any map view.

How it works

Planes broadcast their position over ADS-B. Receivers on the ground pick it up and the live map shows each plane where it was a few seconds ago.

Your browser compares those positions with your own and sorts the planes by distance. The direction tells you where to look: a plane to the north-east is above the horizon in that direction.

Questions

How do I find out which plane is flying over me?

Press “Show planes above me” and allow your location. The list shows the aircraft closest to you with flight number or callsign, type, altitude and distance. Click a row to see the flight on the map.

Is my location stored or sent anywhere?

No. The distance to each plane is calculated in your browser. Your location is not sent to our server and not saved; when you leave the page it is gone.

Why is the plane I can see missing?

Only aircraft that transmit their position and are picked up by a receiver can be on the map. Some military and private aircraft transmit nothing, and in some areas there is no receiver nearby.
