China Eastern lands in Zurich for the first time, arriving from Shanghai
On Thursday, 18 June 2026, at 7:49 a.m. local time, Zurich Airport welcomed the first China Eastern flight on its new route from Shanghai. The connection expands the range of direct flights between Switzerland and China.
According to a press release from Zurich Airport, this marks the very first arrival of China Eastern at the airport. With the launch of the Shanghai route, the network of direct connections between Switzerland and China grows further.

The flight from Zurich to Shanghai thus takes until the following day, while in the opposite direction the aircraft arrives in Zurich the same morning.
According to the airport, Shanghai is currently the only destination on mainland China served directly from Zurich. The airport operator describes it as one of China's key centres of industry and commerce, attracting both business and leisure travellers.
Alongside China Eastern, Swiss International Air Lines also operates on the same Zurich–Shanghai route. According to the airport, the new connection further strengthens Switzerland's ties with one of Asia's major economic regions.
