flynas orders 25 more A330-900 and A321neo aircraft from Airbus
Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flynas has agreed with Airbus to acquire five more A330-900 aircraft and 20 A321neo jets. Airbus announced the deal on 22 July 2026 at the Farnborough Airshow, saying it strengthens the strategic partnership between the two companies and supports flynas's expansion on domestic, regional and long-haul routes.
The new order raises flynas's total commitment for the A330neo to 20 aircraft and for the A321neo to 56 units. Together with other aircraft, the airline's total firm order backlog with Airbus now rises to 235 aircraft, further expanding a fleet made up exclusively of Airbus jets.

According to Airbus, flynas currently operates a fleet of 67 Airbus aircraft, comprising two A330-300s, four A320ceos and 61 A320neos. The carrier continues to expand its route network in response to growing demand for air travel in and beyond Saudi Arabia, supporting the Kingdom's aviation development ambitions.
flynas CEO Bander Almohanna said the move is designed to ensure sustainable fleet growth in the coming years and support the expansion of the carrier's six operating bases across the Kingdom, while also strengthening operational and expansion capabilities for flynas Syria.
According to Almohanna, the increase in firm orders will strengthen the carrier's ability to enter new markets and cement flynas's role as a key logistics partner in building Saudi Arabia's position as a global tourism hub. He also mentioned support for the goals of the Pilgrim Experience Program, which facilitates access to the Two Holy Mosques, and the contribution to boosting overall capacity in the aviation sector.
Almohanna added that raising firm Airbus orders to 235 aircraft out of a total order portfolio of 280 will further strengthen the carrier's operational and expansion capabilities. He said this will help support the growth and transformation of the Saudi economy, given the major tourism projects and global events the Kingdom will host, including Expo 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales, said the additional order from flynas confirms the appeal of Airbus's latest-generation aircraft and reflects the strength of the partnership with one of the fastest-growing carriers in the region. He added that the A321neo and A330neo offer high efficiency, performance and passenger comfort, enabling carriers to grow sustainably while expanding their networks.
Aircraft specifications
- The A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo family, offering top-tier operating economics and extended range for regional and medium-haul routes, cutting fuel burn and CO2 emissions by at least 20% compared with the previous generation of aircraft.
- The A330neo is powered by the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, has a range of up to 8,100 nautical miles (15,000 km) without a stopover, and cuts fuel burn, CO2 emissions and operating costs by 25% compared with previous-generation competitor aircraft.
