ANA and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer have signed a firm contract for eight E190-E2 aircraft. This formally completed the deal the two sides had provisionally agreed on back in July this year.

Order
8x E190-E2
First delivery
2028
Operator
Ibex Airlines
Type being replaced
Bombardier CRJ700

The new aircraft will not be operated directly by ANA but by its partner regional carrier Ibex Airlines, where they will replace the current Bombardier CRJ700 fleet. Operations will run under an ACMI agreement between the two companies.

This is not ANA's first contract for this type. Embraer secured an order for the E190-E2 from the Japanese carrier last year, when ANA signed a contract for fifteen aircraft with an option for five more. The first aircraft from that earlier order is due to be delivered as soon as next year, ahead of the jets from the new eight-unit order.

ANA plans to deploy the smaller Embraers on domestic routes with weaker demand, where Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 aircraft with capacity exceeding the route's needs currently fly. The goal is to better match seat capacity with demand, thereby boosting the profitability of domestic operations.
